EXTENSION OF SECONDARY RUNWAY AT CHENNAI AIRPORT, CHENNAI. CONSULTANCY SERVICE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF RCC/PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BRIDGE ACROSS RIVER ADAYAR.

Client: Airport Authority of India, Chennai

Brief Scope and Salient Features:

The main objective is to provide the consultancy services for the Detailed Design of RCC/ Prestressed concrete bridge across River Adyar. The bridge consists of runway portion, taxiway portion and half strength portion. The bridge is constructed at the touch down zone of the aircraft.
The runway portion and taxiway portion is designed for the maximum aircraft load of A380 airbus. The half strength portion is designed for the 50% of runway live load and for the tanker load. The bridge is of approximately 200m wide and 470m length.

Scope of the project:

  • Carryout hydraulic study ,detailed survey report, hydraulic parameters and hydraulic report.
  • Carry out  soil investigation and submission of final soil investigation report.
  • Submission of structural deigns philosophy, structural parameters, preliminary sizes and estimates.
  • Detailed design and drawings for the full strength potion and Half strength potion
  • Preparation of tender drawings, BOQ, cost estimates and specifications
  • Construction support activities.

DETAILED DESIGN AND APPROVAL OF STRUCTURES IN THE LINK BETWEEN THE    WESTERN EXPRESS HIGHWAY (WEH) AND CHATRAPATHI SHIVAJI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CSIA).

Client: L&T-ECC, Chennai

Brief Scope and Salient Features.
The main objective is to provide the consultancy services for the Detailed Design of Viaduct and structures connecting WEH and CSIA. The detailed design includes design of tunnel, pedestrian subway and Vehicular underpass.

Scope of Work:

  • To carryout General arrangement drawing for Viaduct,Tunnel and WEH.
  • Detailed design for the superstructure,substructure and foundation for the viaduct.
  • Detailed design of tunnel and ramps.
  • Detailed design of VUP and PUP.
  • Preparation of drawing for the junction improvements.
  • Construction support activities.
  • Preparation of highway geometry for the WEH, tunnel and Viaduct.

The challenging aspects of the project is :

  • Construction in the busiest area of expressway- fast track construction
  • Wide deck having 4 outgoing lanes and two incoming lanes.
  • Post –tensioned spine beam prestressed both longitudinally and transversely.
  • Superstructure is resting  on the single column.
  • Rearrangement of utility in the airport area.

FLYOVER AT LAJPAT NAGAR, NEW DELHI

Client : Delhi Tourism & Transportation Development Corporation Ltd.

L&T-RAMBØLL  provided detailed engineering services for a 6 lane flyover covering 3 junctions along with pedestrian subway facilities at the 3 junctions. The superstructure consists of 2 independent carriageways of pre-cast segmental box girder, continuous over 4 spans. Subways were constructed by diaphragm wall methodology. Choice of construction technology was based on clients requirement for minimum obstruction to traffic during construction and speed of construction. The shape of the cross-section for the deck is done by the Consultant based on aesthetics.
